Abstract/Summary

Electronic Justice System is a project which aims at developing a computerized web based software to run daily activities of the court system of Ghana. The project has many features which are manually done through case filing till disposal in the judicial system of Ghana. It provides login access to all key personnel involved in processing a case. The System is also equipped with records of financial transaction of each case and a platform for investigating into a person’s background. This project is being developed for the judicial staff and administrators to enable them have smooth management of cases.

Abstract/Summary

Microwave link technology is of great importance to the Ghanaian telecommunications industry due to its use as the traditional means of transmission. In view of this, network downtime associated with microwave transmission has an enormous impact on the service quality offered to customers. This research was carried out at MTN Ghana by obtaining and discussing the root causes of microwave network failures and its effect on some Quality of Service (QoS) parameters over the months of February, March and April. A Time Series Graph was used to analyze the data with the help of Microsoft Excel. Power, Wireless and Transmission were established as the most significant causes of microwave network failures. The effects of these were used to elaborate on the QoS parameters obtained namely Call Drop Rate, Call Completion Rate and TCH Congestion Rate. It is was concluded that solutions given to curb the frequency of the three root causes can significantly minimize network downtime associated with microwave links and increase the service quality offered to customers. Recommendations were then adequately given.

Abstract/Summary

Frequency drifting is a major problem facing some radio stations in Accra, the National Communication Authority has allocated specific frequencies for the various radio stations in Accra yet some radio stations operate in other frequencies allocated to other FM stations. The project seeks to find out why frequency drifting exists and how it can be corrected. In other to solve the problem of frequency drifting, a crystal locked FM transmitter was designed to stabilize the transmitting frequency allocated to a radio station in Accra. Thus, this project aims at constructing a crystal lock FM transmitter that generate a frequency in the FM band. The crystal used is a 16mhz crystal and the components in the oscillation stages are carefully chosen to operate around 90-96mhz. the method employed in designing this project was the frequency multiplier approach and the use of a crystal. The result of this project was a simple crystal locked FM transmitter which could transmit at exactly 93.1mhz across a distance of about 50 meters.

Abstract/Summary

Visiting hospitals is a very important part of our lives as individuals; whether in the case of emergency or for regular check-ups. This project is an Android application that provides an effective, and efficient way to prevent congestion in hospitals, lessen pressure on hospital facilities and curb needless deaths in cases of emergency. This is done by providing real-time information on available facilities in hospitals thereby allowing individuals to have foreknowledge on these available facilities to help in deciding the best hospital to visit in any given time. MySQL is used to create and manage the real time database of the app and the project requires the Internet to use application.

Abstract/Summary

The global financial crisis and subsequent effects on sovereign debt, the “rise of China”, prolonged war in the Middle East, as well as the recent as yet uncertain wave of political unrest and civil war known popularly as the “Arab Spring” have shaken the world, and called into question the future of U.S. hegemony. In this regard, the prospects for continued U.S. hegemony in the international political economy will be analysed. First, however, it will be necessary to determine exactly what factors are constitutive of U.S. hegemony. In this regard, the structural analysis devised by Susan Strange in the 1980s is apt to illustrate the main sources of U.S. power in the international system. Additionally, the insights of Robert Cox’s analysis of the internationalization of production, world order, and his application of Gramsci’s theory of hegemony to the international political economy allow for a more thorough understanding of the nature of the U.S. hegemony. Additionally, East Asia and Latin America will briefly be analysed due to their potential as sites for collective counter- hegemony, if not on a global, then at least on a regional level. It will be concluded that U.S. hegemony through dominance in the structures of production, finance, security and ideology appears to be relatively safe from effective contestation for the foreseeable future. Once again, the decline of the U.S. has been much exaggerated due to a lack of focus on structural power, and an in depth analysis of the myriad sources of power which the U.S. draws from.
